And years ago, I drafted a proposal for a middle grade novel that would take place beneath the sea. I dreamed of becoming a marine biologist.

You see, when I was a kid, I ***adored*** the cartoon SEALAB 2020. More than anything else, it reminded me of John Christopher's Tripod books, with young people doing brave things to defeat opposing forces they're only beginning to understand.ĪBOVE WORLD resonated specially for me because I once had an idea for a somewhat-vaguely-not-actually-but-sort-o f similar book. You see, ABOVE WORLD is like the adventure speculative fiction stories I read and loved when I was a kid. What's that you say? ABOVE WORLD was only released last week? Ah, yes, but I was lucky enough to read an Advance Reader's Copy. Last weekend's trip to the beach was especially enjoyable because it gave me a chance to think about one of the most fun books I read last year: Jenn Reese's ABOVE WORLD.
